William Pryor

William Pryor has four decades of experience as an entrepreneur, in particular writing business plans, raising finance and in business development.

He was educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge, and is a great great grandson of Charles Darwin. He’s been an entrepreneur all his life, founding Cosmic Books, Airlift Book Company, The Green Catalogue, Arq web developers and Floot.com. He also founded the ground-breaking conference series, Unhooked Thinking, about addiction, and is developing a feature film from his script Cool that he adapted from his memoir The Survival of the Coolest.

Amongst William’s endeavours have been Cosmic Books, a ground-breaking bookshop in Devon. Airlift Book Company is now part of the multi-million book distributor PGUK. The Green Catalogue was Europe’s first environmental goods mail order business. Arq launched one of the first city websites in the UK, bath.co.uk. Floot.com, with Freeserve and Music Choice as shareholders, pioneered the concept of niche aggregation on the Web, in this case with music. In between his work with Vicarage Ventures, William is developing Raverat.com, a portal website to promote and sell the wood engraving and other images and writings that made his grandmother, Gwen Raverat, a well-known figure in Bloomsbury.
